Wear layer
Low maintenance LVP and LVT are multiple layer synthetic floor coverings. The transparent wear layer that is found on the surface of the flooring determines durability. It's wise to choose a plank or tile with a 20-mil wear layer to protect the image layer. Once the pet-friendly surface layer is worn down, the flooring must be replaced.
WPC and SPC
Luxury vinyl flooring with a wood-plastic composite or a stone-plastic composite core layer above the backing layer is waterproof. A WPC core contains wood byproducts and a foaming agent. An SPC core is made up of limestone. WPC flooring is best for home applications, while almost indestructible SPC flooring is ideal for commercial applications, too.
Methods of installation
Each luxury vinyl product is designed for one of three installation methods. Most planks and some tiles interlock at the edges so a floating floor can be constructed; Glue-down brands contrast these 'no attachment to the subfloor' brands; Semi-permanent loose lay LVP and LVT brands butt together.
